Tackle Football Program

Program Structure

The JR Wolves Tackle Football Program is governed by The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL).  There are approximately 45 teams within the league.

Tackle football is available for any child between the ages of 7 and 14.  There are five ‘levels’ of football that are available.  These levels are determined by weight and age and set forth by the TCYFL.  The levels are (from youngest to oldest) Bantam, Feather, Middle, Light and Heavy.

Among those levels are 2 ‘divisions’ used to align athletes to skill level.  These divisions are “Big10" and "Pac10".

Placement among the levels and divisions is strictly controlled using factors such as weight, age and skill level and players are selected and placed via a ‘Combine’ that is held the first 2 weeks of the season.

Big 10
There is one "Big10" team per division that plays on Sunday. The players are selected by the team's head coach to represent the JR Wolves' Program most competitive players at each level and division.

Pac10
Remaining players are equally split among "Pac10" teams that play mostly on Saturday. For these teams, the rules mandate equal playing time and the emphasis is instruction, development and participation.
