Frequently Asked Questions

 

1) When does the season start?

Season will start on July 26, 2010, as directed by the The Chicagoland Youth Football League (TCYFL), and end as late as November 14, 2010 if the teams make it to the Championship Bowl games.  Cheer/Poms starts practice after July 26, 2010.

 

2) How many times a week do teams practice?

Typically teams practice 5 days a week before school starts and 3 days a week once school has started.  Practice schedule is set by each teams head coach.  Cheer/Poms typically Practice 2 days a week.

 

3) How far will we have to travel for away games?

 Last year Plainfield was in TCYFL and will be the farthest we will need to travel to.  Cheer squads travel in coordination with it's designated football team.

 

4) How are the players chosen for each team?

All players, by age groups, are evaluated by the coaches together during the first 2 weeks of the season.  The Top 18 – 20 players in each age group are selected to play on the Big/MID 10 team or Mac 10 team.  The remaining players are broken up evenly to play on a Pac 10 team or teams.  No child is left out or cut, everyone plays.  

 

5) My Child is new to Football, what is the proper level for him or her?

The coaches will evaluate your child and he or she will be placed a level that is appropriate for his or her level of play.

 

6) How are coaches chosen for the teams?

Coaches will submit there request to coach a Wolves team.  The board will then interview them and select only the best coaches to work with the kids.

 

7) What is the leagues policy on playing time for the kids?

Big/MID 10 and Mac 10, are the most competitive teams, there are no playing time policies set by the TCYFL and playing time is determined by the head coach.  However, it is the Wolves policy that all kids will have a starting position for teams of 22 or less players.

Pac 10 has an 11 on, 11 off policy set by the TCYFL, meaning that when the offence or defense comes off the field 11 new kids go back on the field to play.

 

8) Do I need to purchase Equipment?

Helmet, shoulder pads are provided and your child’s jersey is included in your fees.  You will need to buy football pants, leg pads, mouth guard and cleats.  Football pants, leg pads and mouth guards will be available for purchase from the Wolves in August.

 

9) How long can the season potentially be?

If your team makes it all the way to the Championship Bowl game, the season will end November 14.  The season could end as soon as October 24.

 

10) What is the policy on missed practices for players?

It is the Wolves policy that practice missed for illness or participation in another sport are excused, when coach is given proper notice.  Injured player must attend practice.  All other missed practices are to be dealt with by the head coach of each team and will follow his or her team rules.

 

11) What is the policy on parent’s participation with the teams and at games?

Everyone will be asked to help out during the season.  Whether it be helping with the chains, field setup, field take down, score keeping, etc. everyone is expected to help.

   

12)  Is there a code of conduct the parents must agree to?

Every parent will sign a code of conduct at the start of each year.  There is a zero tolerance policy!  It is a game, remember that!!

 

13) Is a deposit required for Equipment?

Yes, $150 check will be collected at time of equipment hand out.  This check will not be cashed and will be returned to you once you have returned your equipment as required by the Wolves.  Equipment not returned as required will result in your check being processed.

 

14) My son will not play for Prairie Ridge, but would like to participate- Can he or she?

 Yes, it is the Wolves goal to teach Prairie Ridge school football system, but everyone is welcome to participate.

 

15) Are there restrictions on weight class for players?

Yes, please select the football tab above.  Information can be found on this page and on the TCYFL website.

 

16) Are there restrictions on ability levels for players?

No, everyone will play.

 

17) When are Games Played?

Games are played on weekends either Saturday or Sunday with dates and times set by the TCYFL.
